As the Chicago Bears look to build off their success last year and continue their winning ways in 2026, team chemistry will be a big point of focus under second-year head coach Ben Johnson.
Chicago is a team that is widely expected around the NFL to have one of the most productive and exciting offenses in the league, putting plenty of responsibility on quarterback Caleb Williams on the field and in the locker room.
Not only is the firepower of Chicago's offense fun to watch, but so is their energy when they find their way into the end zone, having plenty of fun with their celebrations. When asked about why the team celebrates as much as they do once they score, Williams referenced something he saw from legendary San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker and why it matters for team chemistry.
"It’s really freaking hard to score in the NFL," Williams said. "You get into games and things like that; it’s really freaking hard. So, let’s go celebrate when we do it. It shows a sense of love and care for your teammates, because you didn’t get in the end zone. You weren’t the one getting in the end zone, so you have to go down there and celebrate, and have fun, and dance, and do all these things. And come back to the sideline, focus up and get ready to go do it again.
"So, it’s something like the Spurs with Tony Parker a couple years ago. There was this stat of, they go around and they slap hands more than anybody. It’s those small things, those small connections, those small moments that build up. And when it comes down to it, in those big moments, something from those moments, and slapping hands, and going down, and celebrating with your teammates. They show up late in games, late in the year, and things like that. It’s important and it’s really important to me and us."
It is certainly not easy to get in the end zone in the NFL, but many analysts believe that the Bears are very much capable of having plenty of offensive impact this season. If Williams can be a leader on the field, and put his team in the end zone aplenty this year, there is sure to be plenty of team chemistry and even more celebrating when they do.
