Carlos Rodon returns as Yankees announce Tuesday lineup vs Orioles

It's been a little more than seven weeks since Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees.

On Tuesday night against the Orioles at Camden Yards, the veteran lefty returns to the rotation - but in a different scenario than previously expected.

Fellow veteran lefty Max Fried was placed on the 15-day injured list due to another left elbow bone bruise, putting his 2026 season in jeopardy as the stretch drive begins.

Rodon (4-2, 3.30 ERA) is coming off rehab for left elbow inflammation, following his June 28 start against Baltimore.

He's made just nine starts this year, having been delayed due to offseason surgery to remove loose bodies and a bone spur near his pitching elbow.

You'd figure Rodon to be around a 65-pitch limit on Tuesday night, as he builds back, based on his last two rehab starts.

He'll be opposed by Baltimore right-hander Shane Baz (4-12, 4.00), who previously faced the Yankees on May 4 at the Stadium.

In that game, Baz lasted 5.2 innings, charged with five runs on six hits (including an Aaron Judge home run) and five walks in a 12-1 Yankees win.

Here is the Yankees' lineup for Tuesday night at Baltimore:

  1. Trent Grisham, CF
  2. Ben Rice, DH
  3. Heliot Ramos, LF
  4. Luis Garcia Jr., 1B
  5. Spencer Jones, RF
  6. Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B
  7. George Lombard Jr., SS
  8. Ryan McMahon, 3B
  9. Austin Wells, C
