Celtic FC has made a significant addition to their squad by signing Danish midfielder Oliver Sorensen on a season-long loan from Italian club Parma, with an option to purchase included in the deal, pending international clearance. The announcement came yesterday, marking an exciting new chapter for the 24-year-old player.

Sorensen joined Parma in August 2025 after an impressive five-year stint at FC Midtjylland in Denmark, where he played a pivotal role in the team's success, including winning the league title in 2024. His performances earned him recognition, as he was named in the Superliga Team of the Year for two consecutive seasons in 2024 and 2025.

Described as a 'box-to-box midfielder,' Sorensen is expected to bring much-needed energy and strength to Celtic's midfield. The Danish international expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Scottish giants, believing that his playing style aligns well with the club's attacking philosophy. In an interview with CelticPlayer, he stated, "I feel lucky to be a part of this club now, and I hope the style of play can suit me."

Sorensen elaborated on his excitement for the club's attacking approach, saying, "It’s attacking football. They want to attack and they want to go forward. They want to push the opposing team down in their box. So, I hope I can contribute and help the team to do that." He emphasized his readiness to give his all, stating, "I love to attack, I love to run, I love to defend and I love to tackle, so I’m ready to give 100 percent, and I can’t wait to be at Celtic Park for the first time."

In preparation for his move, Sorensen reached out to former Celtic player Erik Sviatchenko, who provided guidance and encouragement regarding the transition to Glasgow. Sorensen shared, "I spoke to him and was messaging a bit, and he congratulated me for this move and wished me good luck. I should call him in a few days to get all the good places to go and eat and all this stuff!"

Celtic's manager, Martin O’Neill, has high hopes for Sorensen, praising his experience and versatility. O’Neill commented, "Oliver is someone with really good experience, playing at a high level in both Italy and Denmark. He has great energy, he is able to move really well up and down the pitch with strength and can play in a number of positions across the midfield. We are looking forward to working with him and think he can be an important player for us."

With the signing of Oliver Sorensen, Celtic FC aims to bolster their midfield options as they continue their campaign in both domestic and international competitions. The club and its supporters are hopeful that Sorensen's contributions will help drive the team toward success in the upcoming season.
