Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh was visibly deflated when he spoke about the brutal knee injury to center Tyler Biadasz.
Harbaugh appeared on the Pat McAfee show on Wednesday and touched on Biadasz's injury, admitting he is a little blue about it.
“The trajectory of the team is outstanding, but you get a player like Tyler Biadasz, who has been so dialed in and invested in this team," Harbaugh said.
“It was a play that was probably a 1 in 10,000 type of play where he had blocked it so well and our left tackle and left guard blocked it so well that the defensive tackle went inside of the leg of Tyler.
“I’m a little blue about it.”
Biadasz suffered the injury during Tuesday's joint practice against the San Francisco 49ers. He was carted off of the field after he couldn't put any weight on his left leg.
The 28-year-old veteran was set to play in his first season in Los Angeles after signign a three-year, $30 million contract this offseason. Biadasz is set to miss extensive time; however, there has been no offical word on being ruled out for the entire 2026 season.
Harbaugh said Biadasz is doing all he can to ensure he plays this season.
“I know for Tyler, he’s looking at some options, some second opinions. He’s just hell-bent on doing whatever he can to keep playing," Harbaugh.
So far, Biadasz is out indefinitely pending final consultations with specialists.
The expectation for Biadasz this upcoming season was to provide quarterback Justin Herbert with added stability up front, with a veteran anchor between offensive tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt.
With the Chargers' starting center likely unavailable to start the season and beyond, rookie offensive lineman Jake Slaughter could be handing Herbert the snaps for the foreseeable future.
