Chase Bisontis injury: Arizona Cardinals OL might miss rookie season

Rookie Arizona Cardinals guard Chase Bisontis suffered a knee injury in the first half of the team's 27-14 preseason win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday. He received news about the injury on Friday, and while it isn't the worst-case scenario, he might miss his entire rookie season.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Bisontis avoided a torn ACL, which would have definitely ended his season, but he suffered a torn MCL. He will miss much of the season, perhaps all of it. He need surgery, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

Bisontis was the Cardinals' second-round pick this year and was competing with Isaiah Adams for the starting right guard job. Adams has been holding down the job, but this all but seals the deal.

If the Cardinals believe Bisontis can play sometime this season, expect them to wait to put him on injured reserve. If they place him on IR before the end of the preseason, his season will be over. If they wait to put him on IR until roster cuts, they can designate him to return.

The Cardinals have lost two rookies to knee injuries. Defensive lineman Kaleb Proctor tore his meniscus in OTAs and will miss the season.
