Chelsea have had three bids rejected for Alex Scott by Bournemouth

Chelsea have suffered a major setback in their pursuit of English midfielder Alex Scott.

According to iNews, Chelsea have turned down three bids for the 23-year-old midfielder from the Cherries, who have made it clear he’s not for sale.

The Blues reportedly submitted offers worth between £62 million and £68m, but Bournemouth have refused to consider letting Scott leave before the transfer deadline.

Chelsea are preparing for the imminent departure of Enzo Fernandez and are hoping to replace the Argentine maestro with Scott in the middle of the park.

The Blues managed to get their transfer business sorted early on this summer, but bringing in a new midfielder was always on the cards.

They’ve set their sight on Scott, despite Bournemouth’s hands-off warning.

The ‘amazing‘ midfielder has attracted plenty of interest after another impressive campaign, while talks over a new contract with the Cherries were put on hold last month.

However, Bournemouth has made it clear to players, agents and interested clubs that its biggest stars will remain on the south coast for the new season.

Manchester City also have an interest in Scott, but Bournemouth’s reluctance to do business has forced them to consider other options.

Interestingly, one of those options is Chelsea ace Enzo Fernandez, although the Blues may not cash in unless they can sign a replacement first.

At the moment, it seems Scott will not be that replacement. Bournemouth are determined to keep their best players after qualifying for the Europa League.

They’ve studied how teams performed in the Premier League after entering European competition and believe keeping their squad intact will be important in managing the extra demands.

The club is also keen to provide new manager Marco Rose with a settled squad.

Bournemouth made much of their transfer business early in the summer, giving Rose plenty of clarity and sending a clear message to potential buyers.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Chelsea may have to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements.
