Mykhailo Mudryk looks set to go on loan this season as he comes back to playing football following his 20-month ban for a doping charge that was eventually dropped, and it looks like there’s some decent bit of interest in the 25-year-old speedy winger.
While Mudryk did take part in our preseason tour, it was decided fairly quickly that he should go out on loan. That seems like a reasonable course of action for all involved, especially if he can land himself a quality assignment, like, say, the Premier League. (As opposed to just sending him to Strasbourg.)
Frank Lampard’s Coventry City have been linked, but it’s Leeds United who have made the first move, submitting a loan offer yesterday … which we have apparently knocked back for being “significantly below” what we are looking for. It’s not specified what it is we’re looking for: could be any combination of loan fees, salary coverages, playing time conditions, or any additional clauses. There’s no suggestion that we’re looking to let Mudryk go for good, so presumably we’d want a decent fee, full salary coverage, and some sort of guarantee of minutes played.
We have a bit of time to ensure that we get a good deal negotiated here, especially if we can get a little bit of a (loan-)bidding war going.
🚨 BREAKING: Chelsea reject Leeds’ opening bid for Mykhailo Mudryk.
Viewed as significantly below what Chelsea are looking for but talks continue. https://t.co/S9Fb8ZFCcF
