Colts’ Grover Stewart called ‘maybe best player on field’ during Tuesday’s Pats joint training camp practice

According to ESPN NFL Nation Reporter Mike Reiss on ‘The Pat McAfee Show,’ Indianapolis Colts veteran defensive tackle Grover Stewart ‘might have been the best player on the field’ during Tuesday’s joint training camp practice against the New England Patriots:

The 10-year veteran is once again expected to anchor the Colts run defense headed into the 2026 campaign, and still remains a handful for opposing interior offensive linemen—as displayed firsthand during Tuesday’s practice:

Entering the last year of a 3-year, $39 million deal that he inked back in the 2024 offseason, Stewart is coming off a 2025 season for the Colts defense in which he recorded 55 tackles, 23 solo, 5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, 18 total QB pressures, an interception, 4 passes defensed, and a forced fumble during all 17 starts.

Along with returning veteran DeForest Buckner, if fully healthy, the Colts arguably have one of the best interior defensive tackle duos in all of football right now.
