Keenan Allen has been with the Indianapolis Colts for less than a week, but his influence inside the wide receiver room predates his arrival.

Offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter said that the six-time Pro Bowler has regularly appeared on the Colts’ teaching tape, via James Boyd of The Athletic.

"#Colts OC Jim Bob Cooter notes that six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen has been a mainstay in their WR teach tape -- videos they show players on what they should do -- and now Allen is literally in the room with these guys. Very beneficial," Boyd wrote.

Cooter explained that the coaching staff uses clips of Allen to demonstrate proper technique to its receivers.

Now, the player they have been studying is sitting in the same meeting room, indicating an additional benefit beyond the 34-year-old's play on Sundays.

The Colts officially signed Allen on Aug. 19, adding a receiver with 1,055 career catches for 12,051 yards and 70 touchdowns. He has earned six Pro Bowl selections across 13 NFL seasons, and totaled 81 catches for 777 yards and four touchdowns with the Chargers last season.

Allen also brings familiarity with head coach Shane Steichen, who worked with him during their time with the Chargers from 2014 through 2020.

The veteran's experience can certainly prove valuable for a Colts receiver room featuring younger options such as Josh Downs and Alec Pierce.
