Colts rookie Seth McGowan raves about Jonathan Taylor’s influence

Indianapolis Colts rookie running back Seth McGowan has used training camp to put his ability on display.

At the same time, he's trying to learn everything he can from fellow RB Jonathan Taylor.

After Wednesday's joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons, McGowan praised Taylor's influence on his first NFL training camp and explained how closely he has studied the veteran running back.

McGowan said he "couldn't have gotten a better vet" than Taylor, per Fox 59's Joseph Duffy. The seventh-round pick added that he has done everything he can to "mirror" Taylor's habits and routine, along with his one-day-at-a-time mentality.

Those comments come as McGowan, who had another productive practice Wednesday, continues to make a serious push for the Colts' No. 2 running back job.

Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan singled out McGowan and Ashton Dulin for their work as receivers during Daniel Jones' perfect afternoon. Bowen charted Jones at 14-for-14 in team periods while noting McGowan made multiple plays in the passing game.

The rookie broke off an explosive run during Sunday's practice as well and has received increased opportunities this summer due to DJ Giddens dealing with a hamstring injury.

Indianapolis selected McGowan with the No. 237 overall pick in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL draft.

His summer performance has placed him in a position to earn a role behind Taylor, and having the All-Pro as his blueprint appears to be helping.
