Bayer Leverkusen face Wehen Wiesbaden in their first competitive game of the season. Die Werkself reached the DFB-Pokal semi-finals in back-to-back seasons after winning the double in the 2023/24 season.
As for Wiesbaden, they will be aiming to get past the first round for the first time since 2020. They were knocked out by eventual winners FC Bayern last year, but they did beat Vincent Kompany’s reshuffled side in pre-season at BRITA Arena.
Carles Martinez included new signings Miguel Gutiérrez and Afonso Moreira in his first lineup as Leverkusen’s coach.
