BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — For our Countdown to Kickoff, we head to Blountville, where the Tri-Cities Christian Eagles have already kicked the season off and currently stand 2-1 on the year.
The Eagles, under head coach Robbie Norris, are coming off an impressive 8-4 record, and many of the skill players off that team will return, such as tailback Josiah Williams and Matt Strickler on the defense.
While they do have some holes to fill, the Eagles will rely on their faith because they know it will be tough to top last season, but that is the goal of this year's squad.
"We want to win. We want to win football games and we just want to be a family of brotherhood," running back and linebacker Matthew Strickler said.
"All these players, brethren, we're all of us really close," offensive and defensive lineman Josh Williams said.
"I think the o-line, d-line for most teams there is the, you know, the need that most coaches need for, you know, to improve that," Defensive Coordinator Scott Allgood said. "We're pretty tight in the skill position, but the guys have got a great attitude. And the teamwork is great."
Tri-Cities Christian will be back on the field Aug. 27 when it hosts King's Academy at 7 p.m.
