Cowboys trade OT Nate Thomas to Texans for 2027 seventh-round pick

The Dallas Cowboys have made a move.

First things first, the Cowboys made a move on Saturday by acquiring Broderick Jones from the Pittsburgh Steelers. It took a third- and sixth-round pick in 2027 to do so (with a fourth-rounder coming back), but Dallas obviously felt the need to shore up their tackle depth. They also received Pittsburgh’s fourth-round pick next year as well.

Given the Jones acquisition, other tackles on the team were expendable. We know this because the Cowboys moved one of them on Sunday as they sent Nate Thomas to the Houston Texans.

It is only a seventh-round pick for the Cowboys in 2027, but it now gives them five selections total for now.

• 1st (the worse of the two they currently own)
• 2nd (they own their original)
• 4th (Pittsburgh’s)
• 6th (also their original)
• 7th (now Houston’s)

The deals should not be looked at this way, but this is the effective net gain and loss over the weekend.

Gain:

• Broderick Jones
• 2027 4th (from Steelers)
• 2027 7th (from Texans)

Loss:

• 2027 3rd (to Steelers)
• 2027 6th (to Steelers)
• Nate Thomas (to Texans)
