Cyclones are ready for QB1 Jaylen Raynor to take the reins

SIOUX CITY, IA (KCAU) – Three weeks away from the college football season, Iowa State continues preseason practice with the Jimmy Rogers era about to take flight.

But there is no quarterback competition in Ames. Jaylen Raynor is QB1. After spending three seasons at Arkansas State, Raynor is now in his first with the Cyclones. Last year, he had himself 3300+ yards and 19 touchdowns through the air for the Red Wolves. Rogers likes what he has under center.

“Jaylen is so cerebral; he can take in so much information and processing and spit out NFL playcalls quick in no time. He can adjust things on the move. That can be the separator between him and everybody. He can see the picture and has the ability to see the picture prior rather than just know the playcall and know the play. There is so much more to the process that happens at the position,” Roger said, praising his new field general.

The Cyclones begin their season September 5th, hosting Southeast Missouri State.
