There is a lot of excitement building around the Chicago Bears offense this offseason, especially with a youth movement at the wide receiver position that is headlined by Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III.
Burden, who is set to miss all of the preseason with a groin injury, was listed as one of the hottest offensive players to watch for this season in terms of breakout candidates, and his teammates see the reason why. Earlier in training camp, veteran running back D'Andre Swift discussed Burden's mentality on the field, referring to him as a "dog" in his play and attitude.
"He's a dog, Luther is a dog," Swift said. "It shows in his play and his attitude, he's someone you want to play next to. His play style is contagious, one that can spark the offense. You all see him out there, he always knows where the camera is at too, whenever he gets a first down or something like that, but that's the energy that we need."
Provided that Burden can get back to full health before the regular season begins, he should be set up to have a massive role in the Bears passing offense alongside Odunze.
Chicago has a potential star on their hands not just in their offense but one that can make a big impact across the league as a rising talent, a hot name in fantasy football, and a weapon that Ben Johnson is undoubtedly excited to unleash on opposing defenses.
