In the early half of Saturday afternoon, Seattle Seahawks defensive star Devon Witherspoon made NFL history.
He's widely regarded as one of the league's best players on the defensive side of the ball, and now, he can call himself the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, per Adam Schefter.
The Seahawk will earn a new positional record of $33 million per year, which just beats out another notable defender who earned a payday in late July.
Here's the rundown on Witherspoon's new deal, and how it compares to his defensive back counterparts.

After being an integral part of Seattle's run to a Super Bowl 60 win, Witherspoon has now become the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. Last season, the corner achieved his third-straight Pro Bowl campaign and continued his reign as one of the biggest menaces to stand across from an opposing team's best wide receiver.
At the end of July, Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward's new two-year, $62.2 million contract earned him the title as the highest-paid defensive back with an average annual value of $31.1 million. Now, Witherspoon's new deal bests Ward's, as the Seattle defender nets $33 million per campaign.
