One of the great strengths in Luka Doncic's game is his ability to draw fouls and get to the free throw line. He has always been among the NBA's leaders in free throw attempts, and last season, he led everyone with 10.1 free throw attempts a game.
Naturally, when a star player draws a lot of fouls on a regular basis, people will question whether all the fouls he draws are legitimate. Dillon Brooks of the Phoenix Suns, who has spent the last few years taking shots at LeBron James when he was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, has now fired one at Doncic.
He was asked for his top three foul baiters, and he not only named Doncic, but he also said that Doncic may be the worst in that category.
“My three top foul baiters: Shai [Gilgeous-Alexander]. Luka Doncic and he’s probably number one, and, oh my god, Trae Young.”
Doncic led the NBA in scoring for the second time last season by averaging 33.5 points a game. By being aggressive, not only in terms of attempting long shots but also by carrying the threat of a mid-range game and by attacking the basket, he's able to often get to the free throw line and convert easy points.
He shot 78% from the free throw line this past season, so he has plenty of room for improvement in that category. It is scary to think that a man who has put up such big numbers so far in his young career and is only 27 years of age still seems to have plenty of room for improvement.
