After approximately a year with no direct NIL Beer, Dinkytown Athletes announced on Thursday that they are teaming up with Minneapolis based Indeed Brewing to release MN Honey Light. MN Honey Light is a light honey ale made with Minnesota wildflower honey and will contain 5% ABV. A portion of all sales from the MN Honey Light beer will go back to Dinkytown Athletes and will directly fund the women’s athletic programs at Minnesota.
The beer is made with pilsner and vienna malts, L17 Harvest yeast and Tradition hops along with Minnesota wildflower honey. The beer pours a golden color and is easy drinking with a slightly sweet note from the honey and a clean and crisp finish. It is perfect for a tailgate prior to a Gopher football victory!
The general public will get several opportunities to try the beer this fall before it should hit all Minnesota liquor stores later this fall. The beer makes its public debut at an Official Release Party at Stub and Herbs prior to kick off of the Gopher Football season opener opener against Eastern Illinois on September 3rd. The beer should be available at Huntington Bank Stadium for purchase beginning with that Thursday night game, and will be available at basketball and hockey games as well.
As this beer specifically will benefit the Minnesota women’s athletes tied in through Dinkytown Athletics, there are also special events tied into women’s sporting events. A Bar of Their Own will host a special Happy Hour with Dinkytown Athletics and MN Honey Light prior to the Gopher Volleyball home opener on Friday September 11th.
While Duck Duck Beer is gone, the Gophers still have their NIL tie-in with Grey Duck Spirits via their vodka where a portion of the sales are still coming to Dinkytown Athletics. Both Derek Burns of Dinkytown Athletics and members of the Indeed Brewing leadership feel the new MN Honey Light partnership should be successful as there should be a greater niche for the larger beer drinking market, not just Gophers fans. Additionally Indeed is well known in the Upper Midwest beer market and knows how to successfully market newer beers to a greater audience. Add those two together, and hopefully you will see MN Hockey Light on your local liquor shelves for years to come.
