The Los Angeles Dodgers officially got Tyler Glasnow back from injury, with Glasnow returning to the mound for their Tuesday clash against the Atlanta Braves following weeks of rehabbing down in the minor leagues. His return, however, did not go very smoothly, as the Dodgers took a 4-3 loss against the Braves in his first game back in nearly four months.
Glasnow last pitched on the sixth of May before severe back spasms sent him to the injured list, and he appeared to be rusty in his first foray back into the big-league mound. The Dodgers starter allowed the Braves to score three runs in the first inning, although Atlanta didn’t exactly get much hard contact against him (Atlanta scored three runs on four singles and one sacrifice fly).
The 33-year-old starter did get into a rhythm, as he shut out the Braves for the next four innings while allowing just two hits total after that unfortunate first inning. To that end, Dodgers manager Dave Robertswas impressed with Glasnow’s performance, even stating that he was “fantastic” despite the rough patches he encountered.

“I thought he was fantastic. That first inning, obviously, it went long. I thought all night long he threw the ball fantastic. The stuff, the strikeouts, swing and miss, how he navigated that first inning to not let it spiral. He did everything he could to prevent runs tonight,” Roberts told reporters, via SportsNet LA.
“I thought we pitched well enough to win tonight. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.”

To the Dodgers’ credit, they scored three runs before Glasnow exited the contest, and a tied game means that the 33-year-old was not exiting with a loss on his ledger.
For someone who was out for nearly four months, Glasnow looked as fresh as anyone could, and the Dodgers will be counting on him to be healthy for the stretch run and beyond.
