Double the honor: Trey’Dez Green and Whit Weeks honored by sharing number 7

Following the announcement of Braelin Moore being honored as the representative for No. 18, LSU announced that Trey’Dez Green and Whit Weeks will both wear the No. 7 jersey. This is a great honor for both young men on this team.

The No. 18 represents a leader for the team, while the No. 7 represents an undeniable playmaker and mismatch whenever he is on the field. For the first time in the history of the tradition, LSU has announced two new players who will wear the number for the first time.

In 2024, LSU announced for the first time that the No. 7 honor would be represented on both offense and defense, with Will Campbell having received the honor the season before and Harold Perkins being issued the number for the first time. This year will mark the first time that the number has been issued to two new players who will both actually be able to wear No. 7 on the field. Campbell received the honor, but because he was an offensive lineman, he had to wear a No. 7 patch while keeping his traditional jersey number.

Whit Weeks is one of the best linebackers in the country, and when he is on the field, there is very little that he is unable to do. He is also a veteran entering his fourth season and has seen a lot of different offenses across the SEC.

Green is simply a nightmare matchup for defensive coordinators, and what makes him even harder to deal with is pairing him with a play caller like Charlie Weis Jr. The 6-foot-7, 240-pound tight end will not be used solely as a traditional tight end, and the versatility he can display in this offense will make him a difficult matchup for opposing teams to defend.

Both of these young men fit the mold of what a No. 7 should be when they run out of the tunnel and onto the field at Tiger Stadium.
