Walker Eget has been named the starting quarterback for Duke’s season opener, head coach Manny Diaz announced Tuesday.
The Blue Devils open their 2026 season at home against Tulane on Sept. 5.
Eget transferred to Duke in February after he played four seasons at San Jose State from 2021-25. He was granted a fifth year of eligibility by the NCAA in February after he applied for a waiver.

Eget earned All-Mountain West Honorable Mention accolades in 2025 when he threw for 3,051 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 11 games for San Jose State.
He also was SJSU’s starting QB in 2024 when he threw for 2,504 yards, 13 TDs and 10 INTs in 12 games.
Eget replaces former Duke quarterback Darian Mensah, who transferred to Miami in January after one season with the Blue Devils. Mensah led the ACC with 34 passing touchdowns and 500 pass attempts in 2025. He also played his freshman season at Tulane in 2024.
