Update: Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson was on the team plane after the game and returned to Philadelphia, per the team.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —Eagles running back Ja’Quinden Jackson was taken off the field in an ambulance after the first play of Saturday night’s preseason game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

On kickoff coverage, Jackson’s head collided with Patriots running back Lan Larison while making a tackle, and he remained on the ground motionless. Philadelphia’s medical staff brought out a stretcher and placed Jackson on it. Then, an ambulance took Jackson off the field and drove him to a local hospital.

The Eagles just posted an update on Jackson’s status, via X: “Eagles RB Ja’Quinden Jackson has strength and movement in all extremities and is being taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.”

The entire Eagles sideline came on the field to check on Jackson before he was put in the ambulance. The Patriots’ crowd cheered for Jackson as he left the field.

The Eagles signed Jackson two weeks ago after backup running backs Dameon Pierce and Elijah Mitchell suffered long-term injuries. Mitchell was placed on injured reserve, and Pierce has been sideline for most of training camp now.

Jackson would have likely received snaps on offense against the Patriots, along with playing on special teams.
