Eagles stock watch: Risers and fallers from preseason Week 2

The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 0-2 in the preseason following a 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots, but the final score will carry less weight than the individual evaluations. Several players strengthened their cases for the roster, while others left Foxborough with more work ahead.

Stock up: Tanner McKee

McKee completed 16 of 22 passes for 173 yards, two touchdowns and a 125.8 passer rating. He led two touchdown drives and looked significantly more comfortable than Andy Dalton.

McKee entered the game needing to create separation in the QB2 competition. He accomplished that Saturday.

Stock up: Carson Steele

Steele caught six passes for 84 yards and a touchdown while adding 33 rushing yards. His 20-yard score included an athletic leap over a defender.

His versatility makes the fullback competition with Cameron Latu increasingly difficult to settle.

Stock up: Ty Robinson

Robinson recorded four tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss and three quarterback hits in less than one half. He has sacks in consecutive preseason games and is forcing his way into the defensive-line rotation.

Stock up: Will Shipley

Shipley rushed 11 times for 56 yards and a touchdown. He ran through contact, displayed decisiveness and benefited from strong blocking by Philadelphia’s young offensive linemen.

Stock up: Joshua Weru

Weru beat Dametrious Crownover around the edge for a sack that was officially changed from a half-sack to a full sack. His combination of length, athleticism and preseason production has strengthened his 53-man roster case.

Stock up: Darius Cooper

Cooper caught three passes for 44 yards, including a 25-yard gain after breaking a tackle. He continues to look capable of contributing to the regular-season receiver rotation.

Stock up: Shaun Wade

Wade led the Eagles with 10 tackles and forced a fumble for the second consecutive game. He remains in a crowded secondary competition, but creating turnovers will keep him in the conversation.

Stock down: Andy Dalton

Dalton completed 3 of 10 passes for 44 yards. He has completed only six passes through two preseason starts and has not produced a touchdown drive.

The veteran may no longer be the favorite for the backup job.

Stock down: Ambry Thomas

Thomas was beaten by Kyle Williams for a 69-yard touchdown without safety assistance. It was the biggest of several explosive passes Philadelphia’s secondary allowed.

Stock down: Quez Watkins

Watkins failed to catch any of his three targets and averaged 15 yards on two kickoff returns. His speed remains useful, but he needed more production in a crowded receiver competition.

Stock down for practice squad purposes: Cole Payton

Payton entered the game during the final possession. He completed his only pass before being sacked and losing the game-ending fumble.

The limited opportunity makes a complete evaluation difficult, but the ending did not help his push for more playing time. Philadelphia limiting Payton could be about attempting to have the rookie clear waivers and land on the practice squad.
