Today marked the eleventh Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Here’s what I observed down at the Jefferson Health Training Complex!
EAGLES PRACTICE NOTES- FIGHT!
- After a rep where the Eagles ran the ball, Fred Johnson and Moro Ojomo were jawing at each other before the latter took a swing at the former. Ojomo’s punch did not connect and the two were quickly broken up. The Eagles had another running play rep and Johnson flattened Ojomo into the ground by basically tackling him. The two had words for each other and Ojomo swung again as Johnson walked away. While Johnson was walking away, Ty Robinson and some other Eagles defenders came up to Johnson to express their displeasure and stick up for Ojomo. While a group of bodies formed around Johnson, Ojomo ran over and dove into Johnson’s legs to take the big man down to the ground. This prompted some more shoving and shouting from other players before everything was eventually broken up. Nick Sirianni then decided to call practice for the day (there probably wasn’t too much time left anyway). We’re clearly at the point in camp where guys are tired of going up against each other and probably looking forward to being able to hit players on another team.

— EJ Smith (@EJSmith94) August 13, 2026- EAGLES INJURY REPORT:
- DID NOT PARTICIPATE:
- WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring)
- Based on his pre-practice rehab work, Smith doesn’t seem far off from returning to the field.
- WR Makai Lemon (hamstring)
- In contrast to Smith, a Lemon return does not appear to be imminent. The rookie receiver has been unavailable for team drills in at least 11 of the team’s total 19 practices (eight spring, 11 summer) this offseason. Lemon did get some work in with Hurts after Thursday’s practice.
- CB Quinyon Mitchell (glute)
- Q got banged up in Tuesday’s practice. Seems like the Eagles are going to be cautious and rest him for a bit.
- CB Cooper DeJean (groin)
- This is a new injury.
- CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder)
- CB Tariq Castro-Fields (heel)
- S Cole Wisniewski (hamstring)
- EDGE Keyshawn James-Newby (ankle)
- RB Dameon Pierce (hamstring)
- WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring)
- LIMITED PARTICIPATION:
- WR Danny Gray (concussion)
- Gray was upgraded to limited today after missing multiple practices.
- WR Danny Gray (concussion)
- RETURNED TO PRACTICE:
- WR Johnny Wilson (knee) was removed from the injury report after missing multiple days. He was wearing a compression sleeve on his right leg.
- IN-PRACTICE INJURY:
- RB Saquon Barkley was getting looked at by a trainer at one point, according to Brooks Kubena. Currently no indication of anything serious but something to keep an eye on.
- ACTIVE/PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO PERFORM
- EDGE Jonathan Greenard (pectoral)
- RESERVE/NON-FOOTBALL INJURY
- S Tucker Large
- DID NOT PARTICIPATE:
- JALEN HURTS UPDATE:
- THE BAD:
- One practice after becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw an interception in a practice setting, Hurts threw ANOTHER pick today. One can only wonder if the Eagles will SABOTAGE him once again by posting a clip of this play as well. Jokes aside, I thought Mac McWilliams made a really nice play to jump Hollywood Brown’s route in the flat to make the interception at the goal line and prevent a touchdown. Not a terrible throw or decision by any means. Just an even better play McWilliams.
- Hurts also did have a fade ball to Johnny Wilson get knocked down by Riq Woolen, who has the size to be very effective at defending those jump ball throws.
- Hurts threw a Donovan McNabb-like wormburner on a play action rollout to the right.
- THE GOOD:
- Hurts connected with Dontayvion Wicks a lot today. He found the receiver towards the sideline just shy of the pylon with McWilliams trailing to set the offense up near the goal line. Hurts hit Wicks again on a touchdown on a play where the receiver routed up Riq Woolen to create just enough separation for a catch along the right sideline in the end zone.
- Hurts ripped a ball to Dallas Goedert in bounds along the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Andrew Mukuba trailed on the play.
- Hurts hit Moore on an out route to the left to move the offense into goal-to-go territory.
- THE BAD:
- It’s become routine for Saquon Barkley to have some good looking runs in each practice. He looks primed for another big year. The run game as a whole has shown promise, for as much as I can tell from non-tackling practices.
- Michael Carter II had tight coverage to force Wicks to try to make a one-handed leaping grab in the end zone. Wicks’ effort was unsuccessful.
- DAILY DARIUS COOPER IS AWESOME REMINDER: Today was a rare day where I did not write Cooper’s name down in my notes, except for that he wasn’t getting as much first team run with Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown, and Elijah Moore mostly ahead of him. I did ask Nick Sirianni about Cooper’s standout summer prior to practice. And perhaps it’s notable that Cooper’s post-practice media availability took place at the podium, as opposed to the off-camera “mixed zone” area typically reserved for the non-big name players.
While outlining the Eagles’ WR position back in June, Nick Sirianni grouped Darius Cooper with Johnny Wilson as “dirty work” role guys.
I asked Sirianni if Cooper, who’s had a great camp, has earned playing time on offense.
Answer: pic.twitter.com/gEairaMbwe
- I’d go stock up™ on McWilliams, who was taking first-team nickel corner reps today. He’s stacking his best days of the summer recently.
- I’d go stock down™ on Hollywood Brown. The veteran receiver has been the target on most of Hurts’ interceptions in training camp this summer. Brown also had a bad drop while wide open on a bubble screen. Brown received $5 million fully guaranteed when the Eagles signed him, so, the money doesn’t make it a no-brainer for the team to move on from the veteran receiver. But he just hasn’t had a great camp and he’s been outshined by other Eagles receivers. Brown got some extra work in with Hurts after practice to presumably help getting on the same page.
- BACKUP QUARTERBACK BATTLE UPDATE: Tanner McKee was first up at QB2 but I didn’t write down his name for anything notable. Andy Dalton had a nice connection with Will Shipley on the wheel route along the left sideline with Smael Mondon Jr. trailing. Dalton followed that up with overthrowing an open Gray in the end zone … on a play where it looked like both E.J. Jenkins and Darius Cooper were also open on the left side that he was rolling to. Dalton also threw a ball that appeared to be uncatchable out of the back of the end zone.
- Kelee Ringo saw some first-team outside cornerback reps with Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Jonathan Jones all not practicing. He even had a rep where it looked like his tight coverage on Elijah Moore over the middle helped to force an incompletion. On the whole, Ringo has not had a good summer, and I don’t know if he definitely makes the team. He can contribute on special teams but it’s really hard to trust him on defense. But, hey, at least he had a positive moment today.
- Jakorian Bennett allowed a short catch to Danny Gray and didn’t look to be in good position to make a tackle if these were live drills. Gray avoided the corner as he turned upfield for YAC.
- Interesting change to the second-team offensive line configuration: LT Fred Johnson, LG John Ojukwu, C Drew Kendall, RG Willie Lampkin, RT Markel Bell. Ojukwu is newly playing guard with the second-team offense with Jake Majors, who hasn’t fared well, dropping on the depth chart. Ojukwu is a dark horse roster candidate.
- Undrafted rookie Kapena Gushiken had tight coverage on Quez Watkins in the end zone on a play where Dalton’s pass looked to be off target anyway.
UP NEXT: The Eagles have a walkthrough closed to media access on Friday. Then they’ll travel down to Charm City on Saturday to play the Baltimore Ravens in the team’s first preseason game of the summer. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM Eastern. As always, we’ll have complete coverage here at Bleeding Green Nation.
