The Philadelphia Eagles are in Foxborough for the second of two joint practices with the New England Patriots, giving the team’s starters their first extended work against an unfamiliar opponent this summer.
Most of Philadelphia’s established players did not participate in the 24-7 preseason-opening loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Wednesday’s first practice provided a more meaningful evaluation of Jalen Hurts, the starting offense and Vic Fangio’s defense without requiring the Eagles to expose their complete regular-season plans during Saturday’s preseason game.
The major storylines began with A.J. Brown tormenting his former teammates during the first season, and with DeVonta Smith, who recently returned from a hamstring injury. Day 2 will see the return of Makai Lemon, who is expected to participate after missing two weeks with a hamstring injury.
