The 2027 Door County Half Marathon and Nicolet Bay 5K has officially opened registration as of September 1, offering early-bird discounts for those eager to secure their spots in this popular running event. Scheduled for May 1, 2027, the race will take place in the scenic Peninsula State Park, known for its breathtaking landscapes and unique running course.

This annual event, now in its 19th year, is celebrated for its closed-road course that meanders through the park's natural beauty, featuring routes that run alongside the shoreline, through lush woods, and atop the picturesque bluffs of the Niagara Escarpment. The combination of stunning views and a challenging course makes it a favorite among runners.

Organizers have set a cap of 2,000 participants for the half marathon and 800 for the Nicolet Bay 5K. Following a decline in participation during the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of entrants has surged by approximately 20% since 2022. This trend has led organizers to anticipate that the 2027 race will reach its maximum capacity for the first time in several years.

Participants in the half marathon will receive a long-sleeve race shirt, a finisher’s medal, and access to post-race beverages and live music at the finish line. Meanwhile, 5K runners will be awarded a short-sleeve race shirt and similar post-race amenities. Medals will also be presented to the top performers in various age categories. Runners can expect ample support along the course, with eight aid stations and free shuttle services to and from the starting line provided by local lodging sponsors.

For those looking to take advantage of the early registration rates, the fee for the half marathon is set at $70 until September 7, after which it will gradually increase, reaching $110 starting April 1, 2027. The registration cost for the Nicolet Bay 5K is $40 through November 1, rising to $45 from December 1 until March 31, 2027, and $47 beginning April 1. Note that these prices do not include additional fees and taxes. Interested runners can find more information and register at the official race website.

The Door County Half Marathon has become a staple event in the running community, attracting participants from across the country who are eager to experience the beauty of Door County while challenging themselves on a unique course. With registration now open, runners are encouraged to secure their places early to ensure they do not miss out on this exceptional event.
