Enes Kanter has made it a mission to showcase his support for Sophie Cunningham and the Fever, as Cunningham’s firm stance on the participation of trans athletes in women’s sports was what kick-started the trans-eligibility discourse.
His commitment to provide her with support was tested when he was kicked out of Fever-Sky at Wintrust Arena on Sunday night after getting into an argument with Natasha Cloud from the baseline.
This seemingly has not deterred Kanter from his ultimate goal of ‘protecting women’ in sports.
Enes Kanter Claims He Will Not Stop Showing Up To Fever GamesAs Kanter was getting kicked out of the arena, he said, “I’m supporting women, and that is the reason they are kicking me out. This is unacceptable.”
While on ‘The Ingraham Angle’ on Fox News, Laura Ingraham asked him whether he thinks this will snowball into a ban on his entering Fever games or WNBA arenas as a whole.
“If there is any news out there, please don’t listen to those sources. It’s all fake news. I did not break any kind of rules. I did not step over the baseline. I literally just opened my arms. They should not be banning me from any games.”
“You know what? I’m so excited for the Playoffs,” Kanter said. “I cannot wait to go to every Playoff game that the Indiana Fever is going to play. I don’t get those tickets under my name because I don’t know if they’ll cancel it or not. So, I’m going to get the tickets under my manager’s name.”
NBA world had quite the explosive reaction to Kanter’s claims of wanting to show up to every single Fever game.
“Easiest harassment lawsuit if he continues with this BS,” wrote one user who doesn’t find the former Celtic’s persistence admirable.
Another commented, “This goof will do anything except playing good basketball.”
“This goofy is lame,”another WNBA observer remarked.
Kyle Ingram posted a GIF of Caitlin Clark looking confused to showcase his confusion.
“What an embarrassment to his family and to himself,” another X handle wrote.
One more fan made a harsh assessment, posting, “This dude would sacrifice his mother for 5 minutes of TV time.”
“He really likes Sophie haha,”one user claimed.
As of today, Kanter awaits the WNBA’s official response to his declaration for the draft on August 7th. He did so after claiming that he and his team “carefully examined the WNBA’s eligibility criteria and governing framework surrounding self-identification and inclusion.”
The league has not responded publicly to him on this matter, but as per reports, neither Kanter nor Royce White is eligible for the draft.
