Pakistan had last toured England in 2020, the year of the Covid-19 lockdown. England touring Pakistan twice in the interim period. The last of them, in 2024/25, them marked Pakistan’s last Test series win: they have lost one and drawn two series since then. Pakistan have not won a Test series in England since 1996, though they managed to draw in 2016 and 2018 before losing 0-1 in 2020.
Pakistan will look to end their long-running winless drought in England, facing a host nation that is entering a new chapter following the retirement of Ben Stokes and the departure of Brendon McCullum as Test head coach.
Joe Root is set to lead England in Tests again, while Marcus Trescothick will oversee the preparations as the interim head coach for this series. Jordan Cox is the England No.3 for the hosts with Jacob Bethell ruled out of the series. They have also recalled to Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope for this series.
The three Tests will be played at Headingley, Lord’s, and Edgbaston. All matches of this series will commence at 11am local time (3.30 pm IST).
