The Indianapolis Colts may have jobs on the line based on how the 2026 season goes.
Nonetheless, ESPN isn't particularly optimistic about where the franchise is headed beyond it.
Indianapolis landed No. 26 overall in ESPN's annual NFL Future Power Rankings, which evaluate how all 32 teams are positioned for the 2027 through 2029 seasons.
The Colts received an overall score of 73.9.
The most noteworthy grade came in the front office category. ESPN gave Indianapolis a score of 69.25, ranking 31st in the NFL. The Colts were also 26th for their non-quarterback roster, 25th at quarterback and 17th in coaching.
ESPN analyst Ben Solak pointed to Indianapolis' decision to invest in vital players, who fueled its hot start last season, as a reason to get excited about the team's potential.
The Colts extended quarterback Daniel Jones and wide receiver Alec Pierce, while running back Jonathan Taylor has also inked a record-breaking contract.
The quarterback position, however, is where they see potential issues.
Although Louis Riddick highlighted Jones' career-best start to 2025, when he ranked second in QBR while Indianapolis went 7-1 through his first eight games, Jones' season-ending torn Achilles leaves questions about whether he can regain his hot hand.
There was also quite a hopeful prediction from ESPN's Seth Walder when he forecasted Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year sometime between 2027 and 2029.
