New Orleans Saints star Brock Rechsteiner channelled his father, Scott Steiner, as he hit one Dallas Cowboys star with a move Big Poppa Pump would be proud of.
Rechsteiner earned a roster position with the Saints after strong performances in the tryouts. And during their latest training session with the Cowboys, Rechsteiner showed what he brings to the team.
The grit, aggression, and physicality were such that his father, legendary wrestler Scott Steiner, would have been proud to see.
Photo by Tyler Kaufman/Getty ImagesFans believe wrestling ‘runs in the family’ after seeing Brock Rechsteiner deliver Scott Steiner-style moveDuring the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys’ joint practice session yesterday, a fight broke out between the two sides.
Amid the scuffle, Brock Rechsteiner and Caelen Carson got into a pull-apart brawl, which ended with Rechsteiner bringing another Cowboys star, Jalen Thompson, to the ground with a move reminiscent of a German Suplex in wrestling.
Rechsteiner, of course, is the son of former WWE and WCW star Scott Steiner. So it was only a matter of time before wrestling fans came across this clip.
One fan cited the now-legendary ‘Steiner Maths’ promo, writing, “See, Thompson, the numbers don’t lie, and they spell disaster for you every time you step on the field with me.”
Another fan kept things very simple, joking, “Like father, like son.” While a third fan referenced one iconic voice from wrestling, saying, “In JR’s voice: ‘You see him pop his hips, the former Michigan linebacker.’”
“Just go to the wrestling school in Florida, man,” wrote a fourth fan who wants to see Rechsteiner follow in the family tradition and report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
Another fan echoed this sentiment, writing, “He needs to go to WWE I was convinced with the suplex.”
And finally, one fan questioned Thompson and Carson’s decision, asking, “Out of all dudes to pick a fight with, that’s who you choose?”
Rechsteiner has stated in the past that he does want to pursue professional wrestling once he ends his NFL career.
Of course, many fans will know that Rechsteiner’s cousin is currently in the WWE under the name Bron Breakker, where he is touted as one of the future top stars of the company.
Much like his father and uncle Rick, perhaps Rechsteiner could join Breakker in WWE, and the two can go on an incredible tag-team run.
The Steiner Brothers are considered one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling history, having found success in the WWE, WCW, and New Japan Pro Wrestling in years past.
However, Scott Steiner was also a successful singles star, with world title runs in WCW prior to the company being purchased by Vince McMahon in 2001.
While Rechsteiner is fully focused on his NFL career for now, wrestling fans will be hoping that he will become the second coming of ‘Big Poppa Pump’ sooner rather than later.
