Jonathan Tah took a big step in his career last summer with a move from long-time club Bayer Leverkusen to Germany’s record champion, Bayern Munich. Although it was by all measures a tremendous campaign for the Bavarians, they did fall just short in the Champions League — and of course, there is always room for improvement.
“In the end, it’s always the little details you can work on. I wouldn’t say there was one aspect where I felt I was clearly lacking or where I’d say, ‘That’s simply not good enough.’ It’s more about refining the details,” Tah shared in an interview with Sky Germany’s Torben Hoffmann, as captured by @iMiaSanMia. “In football, especially in the biggest and most important matches, it’s those fine margins that make the difference. That’s why it’s so important to keep working on them.
“We’ll do that together as a team, and I’ll do it on a personal level as well. I also want to continue building on the role I’ve taken on here and the one I want to have, by taking on even more responsibility and helping the team win matches.”
Bayern as a club has been searching for that elusive defensive leader for a long time. In Tah, the search appears to be over at last.
