Former Boston Celtic, Big East POY RJ Luis Jr. joins LSU basketball

LSU sports is in the middle of the action when it comes to bringing in players who participated in professional sports. The Tigers' football program is getting most of the attention right now, but LSU's men's basketball also appears to have secured the services of a former Boston Celtics player.

RJ Luis Jr. is eligible to play for the Tigers this season after a Louisiana judge granted the former St. John's star a temporary injunction. This comes after Luis Jr. signed a two-way contract with the NBA's Utah Jazz and an Exhibit 10 contract with the Boston Celtics' G League affiliate. Luis Jr. played in three preseason games for the Celtics.

Before his dalliance with the NBA, Luis Jr. was named Big East Player of the Year in the 2024-2025 campaign, averaging over 18 points and seven rebounds a game for the Red Storm.

Luis Jr.'s eligibility update for LSU also comes on the heels of another bit of important Tigers roster news, as the program secured the commitment of Donovan Dent.
