Megan Rapinoe has mocked Enes Kanter after he recently said that he just wanted to ‘protect women’.
Kanter made headlines again recently after he was removed from the Chicago Sky’s meeting with the Indiana Fever after having words with Natasha Cloud.
Enes later spoke to Fox News and said he told Cloud: “‘I’m just here to protect women. I’m just here to protect women and support her [Sophie Cunningham]’. And then, obviously, after that she started yapping, and she started to walk towards me, and literally I just got up, and then I was like, ‘I’m just here to protect women, and that’s all.'”
Now, former female US soccer player Rapinoe has responded to the comments made by Kanter.

She said: “He later, in continuing the absolute grift that was this whole thing, gave some quotes to OutKick Sports and Fox News, no surprise there. Saying that he was just out there to protect women. Well, oh my God, thank you so much because that’s what we were asking for.
“In fairness, you did warn us about men forcing their way into WNBA spaces. Lo and behold…Oh, you weren’t talking about yourself? OK. People who are ‘trying to protect women.’ First of all, from who? From who? It’s yourself. It’s a big mirror.”
Rapinoe then later added: “Let’s make one thing clear: we do not need men in the WNBA, or women’s sports in general, to make it successful.”
Kanter has since spoken about his ejection from the Chicago Sky game, suggesting: “I did not cross over to the baseline or the sideline, and we’re not allowed to touch any players, obviously, as the fans. So, I didn’t break any rules.”
He has also suggested that he will walk away if the WNBA can define a woman, saying: “Give me the definition. What is a woman? Is it a biological woman? Is it born female? Like, what is it? If you put a word, let’s just say, like, biological woman, right? I will respect that decision so much. Okay, I’m done…You will never hear from me ever again.”
