Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Zamir White has been traded to a rival of the Atlanta Falcons. the San Francisco 49ers have traded White just a couple of weeks after signing him. The 49ers traded White to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for veteran linebacker Deion Jones.
White had 12 carries for 29 rushing yards in the 49ers recent 41-17 preseason win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The former Georgia star provides running back depth for the Saints.
New Orleans is expected to start running back Travis Etienne Jr. this season with Alvin Kamara as the primary backup. However, injuries are accumulating for the Saints.
"Alvin Kamara is dealing with a knee issue, Devin Neal suffered another hamstring injury and Audric Estime has been banged up," Dylan Sanders of Saints Wire said. "With Kendre Miller, Ty Chandler and CJ Donaldson as the remaining backups, New Orleans decided to go find more help."
White last played the 2025 NFL season with the Las Vegas Raiders. He posted 12 carries for 32 yards.
White is a former fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He helped Georgia win the 2021 national championship against the Alabama Crimson Tide and is a powerful runner. He's more of a two-down back and is not an elite receiver.
White has played in 45 games over his four-year NFL career. He has 198 carries for 736 yards and two rushing touchdowns and 25 receptions for 152 yards in his NFL career.
