Former Michigan quarterback Davis Warren has a new gig for the 2026 college football season.

Warren, who appeared in nine games for Michigan during the 2024 season, will start for Stanford in the program’s season opener against Hawai’i. Stanford head coach Tavita Pritchard confirmed the news on Tuesday.

Davis Warren’s history

Warren had been competing against other quarterbacks, including Dylan Rizk and Michael Mitchell Jr., for the starting quarterback spot.

He sat out the entire 2025 season after tearing his ACL in his right knee during Michigan’s ReliaQuest Bowl game on Dec. 31, 2024. He then transferred to Stanford after entering the transfer portal.

Warren finished the 2024 season with 1,199 yards through the air, seven touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Stanford looking to bounce back

It was a tough year for Stanford in 2025, as the team finished the season with a 4-8 record. The program got off to a 0-2 start and never recovered, losing four of its last five games.

Stanford will try to start off on a better foot this year against Hawai’i on Aug. 29. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network.

That game will come a week before a massive showdown against No. 7 Miami on Sept. 4.
