Last offseason the Raiders signed former Steelers veteran linebacker Elandon Roberts to a one-year deal to be their new middle linebacker. That one season wasn't enough to earn him more of them in Las Vegas and he wasn't brought back.
It took the entire offseason, but Roberts has finally found a new home. And it's the same as his old home. The 32-year-old has signed back with the Steelers, hoping to revitalize his career where he last surpassed 100 tackles.
Roberts put up 90 tackles for the Raiders in his single season in Las Vegas. That was fourth on the team. Fellow linebacker Devin White led the team with 174 tackles. In both cases, those tackles were too often either after giving up positive yards on the ground or giving up the catch downfield.
When Roberts joined the Steelers the first time, he was already an eight-year vet, having played with the Patriots and Dolphins. The former is where he was able to get two rings. So, now he is just hoping to prolong his career. This time it will be under a new head coach in Pittsburgh with Mike McCarthy having taken over for longtime head coach Mike Tomlin.
