Fort Collins has a plethora of football talent, but only one player is the Coloradoan's 2026 preseason Player of the Year after winning the Blue Federal Credit Union fans' vote.
Fossil Ridge fans showed out, pushing second-year starting QB Colton Jantz above the rest in the Coloradoan's preseason football fan polling.
Congratulations to Colton and thank you to fans across the area for voting!
The SaberCat quarterback had 58% of the vote, more than 26% ahead of the runner-up.
Here are the next highest vote-getters in the fan poll:
- 2nd: Adriel Hernandez, Fossil Ridge cornerback
- 3rd: Ryan Waymire, Timnath wide receiver
Jantz's first year as a starter showcased his potential, flashing a strong arm on downfield throws and solid accuracy in the short passing game.
As a sophomore, the signal caller threw for 2,240 yards and 21 touchdowns while completing 64.7% of his passes.
He's poised for another jump this season in his second full year as starter. If he plays well, Fossil Ridge should easily improve on its surprising 2-8 campaign last year.
