Frankfurt identify Stade Rennais' Brassier as ideal centre-half signing

Amid an ongoing hunt for a new central defender this summer, Eintracht Frankfurt may have uncovered their desired player.

According to information obtained from Sport BILD, the Bundesliga outfit is working on a transfer for Lilian Brassier.

Talks are currently underway for Brassier, who is under contract with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennes until the summer of 2029.

The 26-year-old was a regular starter in central defense for the French first-division club last season, making 27 appearances.

Nevertheless, Rennes are reportedly willing to let the left-footed player go, but whether a deal can agreed remains to be seen.

The tabloid understands that AJ Auxerre's Clément Akpa is also back on Frankfurt's shortlist alongside Brassier.

The center-back was already a target for the club last summer, with the Financial Times reporting on Frankfurt's interest in April 2025.

Adi Hütter is said to be particularly impressed by the playing style and mentality of both central defenders in Ligue 1.

Thilo Kehrer, a former protégé of the Eintracht Frankfurt coach at AS Monaco, and Diogo Leite have also recently been linked with Frankfurt.
