FSU edge commit flips momentum for Roswell High School in big win

Florida State's saw their 2027 recruiting class take off this summer with an abundance of commitments. One of then came on Jun. 14 when three-star edge Jaxon Holly made his pledge.

He plays at Roswell High school in Roswell, Georgia. On Thursday, they battled Walton High School in their season opener at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the final day of Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic in Atlanta. Walton jumped out to a two touchdown lead, but then Holly made a play that swung the momentum for good in Roswell's favor per Chad Simmons of Rivals.

Walton scored the first 14 points and was driving for another touchdown in the second quarter before Florida State EDGE commitment Jaxon Holly intercepted a pass and returned it 66 yards for a touchdown. That play flipped the momentum, Roswell carried an 18-14 lead into halftime, dominated the third quarter and answered Walton’s late rally with one final touchdown to seal the victory.

Holly's play was eclectic, to say the least. He did an excellent job of noticing the running back coming out of the backfield after initially rushing up field. Then, he showed excellent hands and some decent speed after hauling in the interception and went into the end zone untouched. Roswell won the game 32 to 20.

Plays like these highlights why FSU was so high on Holly and wanted to get him committed to the program. He's coming off back-to-back productive campaigns on the high school level, and his senior year is off to a good start as well.
