Saints football is finally back!
For the first time in eight months, the Black and Gold will return to the turf of the Caesars Superdome to take on somebody other than their own teammates as they welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to town.
Trevor Lawrence has some bad memories of this building, and now, his former running back will be wearing the other team’s jersey.
Let’s break down the details and give you what you need to know before the game.
Game: New Orleans Saints vs Jacksonville Jaguars (Preseason Week 1)
Location: Caesars Superdome
Time: 3:00 p.m. CT
TV: Fox 8 (local), ESPN Unlmtd (national)
Radio: WWL
Line: NO -2.5
MatchupThe first preseason is always a fun opportunity to see what players are going to take advantage of their chance, because more often than not, the starters won’t play. Spencer Rattler will get the start for the Saints under center as he looks to seal his spot as the backup to Tyler Shough. Iowa State player Hunter Dekkers will also get his chance to take that spot as well, as he is expected to play in today’s contest.
The Saints are, of course, battling injuries as Bryan Bresee and Dillon Radunz have both been lost for the season with ACL injuries. Rookie Jordyn Tyson is experiencing a hamstring issue and will miss some time, as well as veteran Cam Jordan, who just returned to the Big Easy on a team-friendly deal.
On the other side, Jacksonville is struggling with offensive line issues as well. They will be looking to iron those out before the season so that 2026 can be a better run than 2025 in Florida.
This will be a fun game regardless as we are just anxious for football, but I will be keeping a close eye on the rookies for the Black and Gold and just how quickly they can make an impact for Kellen Moore’s team, which is looking to go to the playoffs for the first time since the newest Hall of Famer, Drew Brees, retired after the 2020 season.
