Liverpool on Friday confirmed the departure of Curtis Jones to Inter Milan.
The Italian champions paid a fee that could reach £30m for the 25-year-old - with Jones leaving behind a significant gap in Andoni Iraola’s first-team squad.
It is expected that Trey Nyoni and James McConnell will feature in the meantime - meaning the 2024/25 Premier League champions are unlikely to sign a new midfielder.
But the midfielder exits are not done there.
Stefan Bajcetic wanted by Celta VigoFaro De Vigo is reporting that Stefan Bajcetic is on the verge of completing a deal which would see him return to boyhood club Celta Vigo.
The sticking point?
Celta want the 21-year-old to take a leaf out of Mohamed Salah’s book and cut up his Liverpool deal one year early.
Celta want Bajcetic to rip up his contractSpanish midfielder Bajcetic is out of contract in 2027 and has been linked this summer with a return to LaLiga.
Sevilla and recently Getafe have been associated with a move for the under-21 international - who joined Liverpool back in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp.
His time at Anfield has been seriously hampered by injuries and the deep-lying playmaker hasn’t actually made a senior first-team appearance for the club in over two years.
In the intervening time frame he’s appeared on loan for Red Bull Salzburg as well as Las Palmas before being forced into another extensive recuperation from injury.

Celta will place Bajcetic with their reserve team initiallyCelta would not offer Bajcetic a place in their first-team squad on an immediate basis - instead preferring to place him with their “Fortuna” side - effectively their reserve team.
Indeed the report claims the midfielder is closer than ever to returning home. That move would allow Bajcetic to gradually build up his fitness and alternate between the shadow squad and the first team in time.
"If he's happy and we can reach an agreement, it would be a good situation, but I'm not thinking about that right now," head coach Claudio Giráldez said.
"He's a homegrown player; I don't talk about players we don't have.
"If I talk about any of them, it's those who have been here before because we understand that we always have a stronger connection, and on top of that, we have a very good relationship.
"I coached him. If it happens, great, but I don't talk about players we don't have.”
