Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell showed true professionalism during an on-field interview during the the top of the second inning at the Little League Classic that, frankly, lasted far too long.
But while wrapping up the the Q &A, mostly with ESPN play-by-play announcer Karl Ravech, Mitchell, capped the conversation in a game against the Atlanta Braves with an act of true class.
Mitchell paid tribute to Ravech, who is calling his final MLB game with the network after being laid off in July.
“I know this is your last broadcast," Mitchell said. "I appreciate everything you’ve done for this game. I’ve been listening to you for a long time and it’s a pleasure to share this last one with you.”
Ravech, who has been with ESPN for 33 years, thanked Mitchell:
"It's a pleasure sharing it with you too, I appreciate it."
Mitchell was quickly praised for his actions by the Brewers-Braves viewing audience on social media:

— Jim Diamond (@diamondhockey) August 23, 2026Garret Mitchell the goat for sending Karl Ravech off with the praise he deserves. ESPN is dumb.
— Mama Ruffin (@boltsandhalos) August 23, 2026Some fans were upset that Mitchell was being interviewed.
Interviewing the center fielder with bases loaded looks to be a test just for our Brewers tonite at Little League game. Come on @espn - not your best idea. Way too many questions. Kudos to Garrett Mitchell for handling it so well. #ThisIsMyCrew
— Rose Fernandez (@DigitalEdMom) August 23, 2026They are currently interviewing Garrett Mitchell while he is in the outfield and you can’t hear him because of the wind and they already had a microphone malfunction. This is astonishing, just interview a guy in the dugout man https://t.co/iXfEuFyrl4
