As the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets prepare for their season opener on Thursday night, fans will notice a new addition to their uniforms. Georgia Tech Athletics has officially partnered with Atlanta-based Veritiv, making the company the inaugural jersey patch sponsor in the history of Georgia Tech football.

This multi-year agreement not only designates Veritiv as the first jersey patch sponsor but also names the company the Official Sustainability Partner of Georgia Tech Athletics. The partnership aligns with the recent NCAA Division I approval allowing sponsorship logos on game jerseys, a change that took effect on August 1.

The Yellow Jackets will showcase the Veritiv patch for the first time during their 2026 season opener against Colorado at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. This debut marks a significant moment for both the team and the sponsor, as it symbolizes a new era in college athletics branding.

Georgia Tech's partnership with Veritiv is centered around key themes of sustainability, innovation, and community impact. The collaboration aims to achieve three primary sustainability goals: reducing waste and promoting circularity, enhancing sustainable procurement practices, and utilizing data and innovation to boost resource efficiency.

In addition to the jersey patch initiative, Veritiv will engage with Georgia Tech student-athletes through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activities, providing further opportunities for collaboration and support. Georgia Tech Vice President and Director of Athletics Ryan Alpert expressed pride in welcoming Veritiv as the first football jersey patch sponsor, highlighting the significance of this partnership for the athletics program.

Veritiv's CEO, Sal Abbate, who is also a Georgia Tech alumnus, emphasized that the partnership extends beyond game days. He noted that it will create opportunities to support and develop future leaders, reinforcing the commitment to community and educational growth.

Looking ahead, Georgia Tech has indicated plans to announce additional jersey patch partnerships across various sports in the coming months. This initiative reflects a broader trend in college athletics, where sponsorship deals are increasingly becoming a vital source of revenue and support for athletic programs.
