Here we go: Barcelona set to sign Arsenal striker for €10 million plus add-ons

After months of effort, Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez won’t bear any fruit for the club as we near the end of the summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid have managed to remain defiant and look to have been able to put a stop to any possibility of the Argentine joining their direct rivals.

And now, it appears Barcelona have swiftly moved on and are on the verge of signing an alternative in the form of Gabriel Jesus.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already given the customary ‘here we go’ for Barcelona’s deal to sign Gabriel.

This comes on the back of Romano’s earlier update, which suggested that the two clubs were in advanced talks over the player’s transfer.

Perhaps the most striking part of the deal is that Barcelona are set to pay Arsenal an initial fee of just €10 million.

While there will be several add-ons as part of the deal, Barcelona have managed to negotiate a lower cash fee in light of the player’s contract situation, with his current deal at Arsenal expiring at the end of the season.

Gabriel has also struggled with injuries in the recent past, including a long-term ACL knock, though the player has recovered from it since.

Signing Gabriel Jesus for just €10 million could represent a massive bargain for Barcelona in their quest to find a new striker.

The Brazilian has a solid track record in the Premier League, having notably scored 95 goals for Man City and 32 goals for Arsenal.

With almost 250 Premier League appearances, the Brazilian not only brings quality but also experience, making him an excellent addition in an otherwise young Barcelona setup.

Romano adds that Gabriel is slated for a medical on Monday and the deal should be completed by the end of the transfer deadline day.

The Brazilian will travel to Camp Nou for his medical as authorised by Arsenal, and is expected to sign a two-year contract at the club with an option for an additional year.
