High School Football Camp Tour: Confidence growing as Beavercreek chases winning season

The build has been a long one for Beavercreek. Its last winning season came back in 2017.

The hope is this is the year the construction stops and orange barrels become an orange crush.

“Past years we had people always goofing off, but we really just came this year that our senior class is really leading and building a foundation for everyone to come,” senior Andrew LeBlanc said.

The Beavers are coming off two of its most successful seasons in the past decade — both led by Trace Smitherman in his first two years at the helm of the program.

With numerous players returning from a defense that produced two shutouts and helped engineer a late season upset of Wayne, the belief is real that the pieces are finally being put into place.

“When we were freshmen, all the seniors now, we’ve been waiting for this season, the senior year to come, and we’re just really excited for the year to come and give it our all,” senior Jamison Webster said.

The GWOC league schedule has the same opponent order for a third straight season. For Beavercreek it means this season is backloaded with last year’s top teams in the league.

By the time those final four weeks arrive, both LeBlanc and Webster echoed each other’s thoughts that they and their teammates want to display what is being built and potentially what is the new Beavercreek.

“They want to work hard for each other, what is really what when you get that, you really get a really good football team,” Smitherman said.
