The Bridgewater Little League team has been on an unforgettable run this summer.
Now, the team is currently down in Williamsport, Pennsylvania awaiting its first game in the Little League World Series. So far this summer, Bridgewater has won the New England, Massachusetts, Section 2 and District 7 title to be one of the last 24 Little League teams standing in the World.
With all those wins have brought some big expenses for the families of the players on the team. Bridgewater played the state tournament in Holden before advancing to regionals in Bristol, Connecticut. Immediately after the New England championship, Bridgewater took a bus trip to Williamsport on Friday morning.
Here's how you can help out the program cover the costs.
Bridgewater Little League GoFundMeBridgewater Little League president Pat Murphy organized a GoFundMe to help cover the costs. As of Monday, Aug. 17 morning, the fundraiser had raised nearly $27,000 thanks to 277 donations. The goal is to raise $45,000.
"This is an incredible accomplishment and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these players and their families," said the fundraiser page. "Representing Bridgewater and all of New England on the biggest stage in Little League Baseball is an honor they will never forget, but the journey also comes with significant expenses.
"Every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting the team and their families during this unforgettable experience, helping with travel, accommodations, meals, and other necessary league expenses associated with the trip to Williamsport. 100% of all Donations will be equally donated to the families!"
