Crystal Palace gets the new Premier League season underway at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday when it hopes to end a run of 11 games without a win over Everton. The Eagles haven’t managed a win over the Merseysiders since March 2022, and the Toffees have won seven and drawn four times in this rivalry since then.
Palace is at the start of a new chapter after parting ways with coaching icon Oliver Glasner at the end of last season and has employed ex-Lyon and Lens boss Pierre Sage as his replacement. And the Frenchman has big shoes to fill after Glasner won both the FA Cup and UEFA Conference League during his time at Selhurst Park.
Everton, meanwhile, is in a more settled space with manager David Moyes, who is entering his 13th full season in charge of Everton (across two separate stints). The Scot has faced Palace 21 times in his career and has won 12 of those while losing just four in what is one of his more prolific Premier League rivalries.
This fixture carries special significance for Brennan Johnson and Dwight McNeil, who traded teams over the summer in a rare straight swap deal. Johnson joined Palace in January for a fee of around $50 million and is hoping to revive his best in Liverpool, while the same goes for McNeil after slipping down Moyes’ pecking order.
