It’s last call for the 2026 NFL preseason. The Detroit Lions and Indianapolis Colts face off in the penultimate game of the exhibition season. Thus far, 28 teams have concluded their preseason slate and are preparing for roster cuts, which are due by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 30.

The Lions, however, still have one important piece of the evaluation puzzle left. Saturday’s game against the Colts could absolutely win or lose jobs for certain players, so you know they’ll be giving it their all.

Who is playing in the game?

While Dan Campbell has not specifically said it, it’s unlikely the Lions will be playing any starters in this game. Instead, the Lions head coach said he wanted Saturday’s game to be an opportunity for players battling for jobs to showcase their talent.

“We want to give a lot of exposure to some of these guys to give them the best opportunity to put their best stuff on tape, whether it’s here or for another team, because they’ve earned that,” Campbell said. “And so, they’re going to get a lot of reps, a lot of snaps, and it’ll be good exposure for them.”
