Sabrina Ionescu hit three free throws in the closing 15 seconds on Thursday night as New York avoided a record-tying collapse in its 85-81 win over the visiting Los Angeles Sparks. The Liberty led 69-41 early in the fourth quarter before the Sparks ran off 21 straight points to get back into the game. Ionescu finished with 20 points while Rebecca Allen added 13. Jonquel Jones went for 11 points and 18 rebounds and Breanna Stewart closed the night with 11 points and five assists.

The Sun shot just 30% on Thursday night in a 104-69 thumping at the hands of the visiting Atlanta Dream, who hit 14-of-26 from 3-point range in the rout. Reserve Aaliyah Edwards scored 15 points before leading with an ankle injury and Gianna Kneepkens added 10 off the bench. Brittney Griner grabbed eight rebounds.

Stewart leads the Liberty with an average of 21.0 points, with Ionescu putting up 16.0 points and 4.5 assists per game and Jones netting 14.5 points and 9.4 rebounds a night. Griner averages 13.2 points for Connecticut, Leila Lacan books 11.9 points and 4.4 assists per game and Olivia Nelson-Ododa secures 6.0 boards an outing.
