Huntington 34, Berne Union 7

The Huntsmen (1-1) picked up their first win this season on Friday, clubbing Berne Union by a 27-point margin.

Gordon Cyrus led the charge with 23 carries for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Junior McDonald added three catches for 53 yards and a touchdown, and Wes Hamilton finished with eight rushes for 49 yards and a pair of scores.

At the quarterback position, Frankie Hirsch completed 7-of-12 pass attempts for 98 yards and a score while adding five carries for 57 yards. Huntington had 413 yards of total offense, 315 of which came on the ground.

Adena 12, Coal Grove 8

After trailing 8-6 going into the fourth quarter, the Warriors (1-1) used a fourth-quarter touchdown to pick up their first win this season.

Grady Hayden scored both of Adena's touchdowns in an eight-carry, 46-yard effort, while Fisher Schaaf led the ground game with 12 carries for 132 yards. Hunter Williams also helped out, carrying the ball 12 times for 62 yards.

Unioto 33, Athens 14

The Shermans (2-0) erased a 7-0 halftime deficit and used a 26-point third quarter to upend Athens and stay unbeaten.

Five different players scored touchdowns in the victory. Yusef Wilson and Henry Vallette scored on the ground, Ryker Larson and Levi Beam each caught a touchdown pass from Levi Beam, and Carter Elliott polished off the scoring with a interception return for a touchdown.

Southeastern 44, Green 13

The Brayden Burns to Landyn Smith connection was alive and well again on Friday as the two led their Panthers (2-0) to a win over Franklin Furnace Green.

Burns completed 6-of-10 pass attempts for 237 yards and a pair of touchdowns while Smith caught four passes for 200 yards and both scores. Cam Stotridge also lended a helping hand with 15 rushes for 126 yards and two touchdowns, and Nate Gray also found the end zone twice.

Zane Trace 27, Waverly 7

Behind three touchdowns from Brice Johnson — who now has eight scores in two games — the Pioneers (2-0) beat Waverly (0-2) on Friday night.

Jake Stauffer added Zane Trace's fourth score, all of which were rushing touchdowns.

The Tigers' only score came via Gunnar Myers, who found the end zone on the ground.
